Designated as a Metropolitan Centre in the London Plan, the lively, bustling market town of Bromley is home to over 1,200 businesses and approximately 17,000 jobs, thereby creating a strong and robust economic vitality to this particular area of the South-East. Introduced in 2010 the Bromley Town Centre Area Action Plan was a means to boost and promote the town’s position as a Metropolitan Town Centre in order to ensure that high quality design-led development was presented in an assured and positive way thereby contributing to Bromley’s appeal as an all round commercial, cultural and residential town, and in so doing, increasing the number of people who wished to reside, work and shop in the area.

Covered by the BR1 post-code, property in the London Borough of Bromley comprises a fairly large assortment of periods and styles with the majority of growth having occurred after WWII. The 1960′s in particular saw a huge rise in residential property with the construction of town-houses, detached and semi-detached houses as well as purpose-built flats. Due to its strong local economy and excellent local infrastructure, Bromley is able to offer a wide and diverse array of new residential properties perfect for the first time buyer. Several large, well constructed and maintained new apartment blocks have been built near to, as well as in the very centre of town in the last couple of years and these have managed to blend in relatively well with the number of terraced Edwardian and Victorian houses and 1930s detached and semi-detached properties in the area.

Bromley South is awash with modern purpose-built flats whereas Bromley Old Town, close to Bromley North station and considered to be some of the oldest streets in the area, has a charming mixture of Victorian cottages and larger houses, both of which hold much appeal for families as well as first-time buyers. Located on the corner of Crown Lane and Bromley Common and just ten miles from the City of London is Trinity Village, a new development comprising 800 new homes with a mix of affordable and top of the range housing. It features an attractive blend of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, 2-bedroom coach houses and 2, 3 and 4-bedroom houses and aimed at the young professional as well as growing families.

Although established in 1923, Keston Park is still undoubtedly the most notable and resplendent residential estate south of the Thames. It was due to the canniness and foresight of property developer Frederick Rogers, who wanted to create and design a residential setting that would prove compatible with the outstanding natural beauty of the surrounding woodland, that makes Keston Park unquestionably one of the most exclusive and prestigious private residential estates in the United Kingdom today. Here, properties range from the original 1920’s homes to the ultra-modern residences that boast the very ultimate in design and technology. Keston Park is home to around 200 exclusive and individually designed properties each occupying at least half an acre of ground and still very much geared to high architectural and landscaping specifications.

The village of Locks Bottom is a calm, green and almost rural area and has been described as one of London’s embryonic and original super suburbs and one that has helped to make the place even more desirable for London’s wealthier individuals. Farnborough Park which lies just to the West of the High Street and said to be one of the country’s oldest gated community is surely proof of this. The majority of houses on the estate are mansions, built for the wealthy aristocracy in years gone by. In effect, they were built to reflect the worldly success of its inhabitants.

It is because of Bromley’s excellent and diverse mix of housing, its superb selection of schools and indeed its fast and easy commute to Central London, that the town attracts so many people from outside the area. Bromley has no fewer than five railway stations. Bickley, Bromley North, Bromley South, Shortlands and Sundridge Park with London destinations that include Blackfriars, Cannon Street, Charing Cross, St Pancras and Victoria. The fast train to Victoria via Bromley South taking less than twenty minutes.

The London Borough of Bromley has so much to offer whether it be in the way of fabulous shopping, the huge diversity of properties to choose from, its excellent transport links or indeed its exceedingly close proximity to the Kent countryside, there is no doubt it makes the absolute and ultimate suburb in which to reside, shop or visit.
